Eastern Studies
The Eastern texts in our library include books on Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Also of significant note are the 14 volumes of the Sacred Books & Early Literature of the East, covering most religions of the Middle-East to the Far East.
Ancient Works
Buddhism in Translations
Translations of various Buddhists writtings and stories. Includes an overview of Buddhism from the editor and short over view of its history. There are of course better books on Buddhism today, but they are not in the Public Domain.
Tao Te Ching
The Tao Te Ching (Daodejing) are the essentially verses of Taoism (or Daoism if you prefer), written by Lao Tzu some 2500 years ago. Here they are in a simple, unadorned form, as the Old Master would likely have preferred.
The Sayings of Confucius
The Sayings of Confucius include many of his most important saying from the Analects. This work also has a long introduction giving some background and history on Confucius himself.
Modern Commentaries
The Dharma or the Religion of Enlightenment
The Dharma or the Religion of Enlightenment puts forth in clear and simple language the essential tenets and teachings of Buddha. It is invaluble for anyone wishing to study or learn more about Buddhism.
Tthe Sacred Books & Early Literature of the East
The 14 volumes of the Sacred Books & Early Literature of the East give a comprehensive overview of all major religions of the Middle-East to the Far East, both ancient and modern. This is however NOT the more famous 50 volume Sacred Books of the East from Oxford. If we had the PDF versions of the Sacred Books of the East, they would be in this section as well. Nevertheless, this 14 volume Sacred Books & Early Literature of the East are at least available here.
